PROF Dr Kamal Nasharuddin Mustapha (pic) has been appointed as Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) vice-chancellor.
He takes over from Prof Datuk Seri Mashkuri Yaacob, whose contract ended in December last year.
Prof Kamal Nasharuddin’s appointment which was effective on May 5, was finalised by the university’s board of directors.
Born in Machang, Kelantan, he obtained his qualifications from the United Kingdom — his PhD in Structural Fire Engineering from the University of Aston, Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Heriot-Watt University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Strucrural Engineering from the University of Sheffield.
Prof Kamal Nasharuddin also served as dean of the College of Graduate Studies before he was appointed as Uniten deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs, Alumni and Management) from March 2011 to May 4 this year.
Before joining Uniten, he served as UNITI Sdn Bhd director in Tanjung Agas and Kolej UNITI chief executive officer in Port Dickson.
