AS PART of INTI International University’s ongoing Business Leadership Series (BLS), Omnicom Media Group (OMG) managing director Andreas Vogiatzakis delivered a speech calling for change at INTI International University, Putra Nilai recently.
“If you really want to become a successful leader, you have to learn, unlearn and relearn,” he said.
Quoting the famous scientist Charles Darwin, he said it was not the strongest of species that survived, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change.
“Therefore, I encourage all of you to embrace change and let it help you in your development of character and strength,” said Vogiatzakis, who had travelled and worked extensively in many countries before taking on his current job.
He also expressed that “a leader must be the conductor of his or her own life and goals and be an inspiration to others”.
“Leadership is earned and it’s earned hard. Effective leaders are effective people first and foremost, who are passionate about what they do and stay calm in troubled waters.
“When waters are calm everybody can be a leader and take the ship to the port.
“When trouble comes, that’s where the difference can be seen,” said Vogiatzakis in his address to the students.
His address was also available on livestream for students and staff at other INTI campuses.
Vogiatzakis’ talk was one of many speakers in the BLS, who provide INTI students with the opportunity to learn firsthand from members of the industry, as well as have real time dialogues and debates on topical issues.
“The objective of the Business Leadership Series is to provide our students with the opportunity to learn directly from successful entrepreneurs and corporate leaders who come to share their insights and experiences,” said INTI’s Employer Relations vice-president Jeyasothy Palakrishna.
Other prominent corporate leaders including Google Malaysia’s Sajith Sivanandan, Media Prima’s Ahmad Izham Omar, Dell’s Bobbi Dangerfield, Microsoft Malaysia’s Ananth Lazarus, Frost & Sullivan’s Manoj Menon, IBM’s Ramanathan Sathiamutty have spoken to INTI students on the latest trends and developments in business and career opportunities on a global scale.
